One day at Liwa Festival: a simple plan with a dune ride
Last updated 28 October 2026
Start with a two-hour quad or buggy ride (departures at 10:30, 13:00 and 15:30), spend the late afternoon in Liwa Village and stay for the evening programme at Tal Moreeb. Festival evenings in the last edition started around 6 pm.

Plan A: morning ride
- 10:30: guided quad or buggy ride, two hours with photo stops.
- About 12:30: lunch and rest. Bring water and a hat.
- From 16:00: Liwa Village opens (Sun–Thu until midnight, Fri–Sat until 2 am).
- About 18:00: evening motorsport programme at Tal Moreeb.
Plan B: afternoon ride
- Arrive around noon, walk around the festival and have lunch.
- 15:30: guided quad or buggy ride, finishing around 17:30.
- Evening: motorsport at Tal Moreeb, then Liwa Village and the evening shows.
Tips for families and couples
- A buggy seats two, so couples or a parent and child can share one vehicle. A quad is ridden alone.
- Ask at the Mega Drive stand in Liwa Village about age and experience requirements before you book.
- Evenings are cold: bring a jacket even if the day is warm.
- The drive from Abu Dhabi is about two hours each way. If you plan to stay for the evening, consider a night in Liwa.
Frequently asked questions
- How many hours should I plan for Liwa Festival?
- A full day works well: a two-hour ride, a break, and the evening programme from about 6 pm.
- Can I do a quad or buggy ride and watch the evening programme on the same day?
- Yes. The 15:30 ride finishes around 17:30, and the evening motorsport programme in the last edition started at about 6 pm.
Prefer a longer ride? Mega Drive runs 1-, 2- and 3-day quad and buggy expeditions in the LIWA Oasis all season.
