Desert buggy tour in Liwa: what to expect, step by step
Last updated 28 October 2026
A buggy expedition with Mega Drive Experience × AMA in the LIWA Oasis starts with a 10:00 briefing and a 10:30 departure. You drive a Can-Am Maverick X3 for about 80 km over 5–7 hours behind a guide, with lunch on the route, and return to the hotel around 17:30. Two people share one buggy, and the second rider travels at no extra cost.

What a driving day looks like
A day at the wheel is about 80 km and takes 5 to 7 hours, including stops.
- 10:00: briefing. The guide explains the route, the signals and how to drive on sand.
- 10:30: departure. The group rides in a convoy behind the guide-instructor.
- On the route: a camel farm, a natural oasis and lunch. In the first day's route the level is medium; later routes climb to big, steep dunes with long descents.
- Around 17:30: back at the hotel.
The buggy
The expeditions use Can-Am Maverick X3 buggies, a race-spec machine with two seats. One person drives and the other rides alongside. The price is per buggy, and the second person rides at no extra cost.
